Jennifer Schmidt Biography
Jennifer Schmidt is an interior designer and modern furniture aficionado in Vancouver BC -- designing everything from commercial spaces such as classic restaurants and businesses, to residential mansions.
As a young designer, only 12 years old, Jennifer won her first prize for design, taking away the blue ribbon at the PNE with a hand-made model Patisserie and Artists Studio.
Jennifer developed a strong design background starting in fashion design and broadening her talents to include interior design in a fast-paced design program at the Brooks Institute in LA. After finishing her degree, Jennifer continued to work in LA for one year, but returned to Canada for the opportunity to work with Earle Morrison, an innovative industrial designer, known to work on a variety of projects from the Howard Hughes' Spruce Goose to receiving three National Industrial Design Council Awards for furniture design. Catching him at the end of his career Jennifer was able to absorb years of his design expertise from this prolific and ingenious industrial and furniture designer.
"Earle was the driving force in the designer I am today" Jen states, referring to her sense of detail and the intricate way every element plays a part in each design.
Today Jennifer is known for her practicality in design. "Everything needs a purpose... a function".
After 25 years in the industry Jen is described as someone who "knows her stuff". With strong recognition in the industry she is trusted by her clients who know her for her imaginative designs and ultimate practicality -- including all elements from the aesthetic to the functional.
With many referrals, Jennifer can now pick and choose the projects that she is involved in. Her love is for commercial design in particular hospitality businesses. With a unique style that is contemporary with a casual, traditional aesthetic -- focusing on form and function.
We are privileged to have such a talented and experienced designer on the Serenity team to advise and give guidance on all aspects of modern furniture, while offering her own opinions in furniture reviews, design tips and ideas.
